Traveling to Europe for the first time, tips please?
For my 30th birthday I'm planning a 12 day trip through Europe. I'm thinking London, Paris, and Rome, maybe Madrid if there's time. Can you please offer me tips? I've only traveled internationally once before. Here are my questions. Pleas answer as many as you can How much should I plan to save for the trip? What are some good travel websites? Is it better to stay in hostels or hotels? Are the hostels more for people in their early 20s? How much should I pack? I was thinking of just two carryons. Would it be better to fly into London and fly out of Rome or would it be better to do the trip roundtrip from London? What about traveling within Europe? Ferries? Buses? Trains? Eurorail? Planes? Are these friendly cities for a girl traveling alone? I'm excited about seeing the sites, but I'm also hoping to meet some people and go out a little. I have a cell phone I got in China. Can I just change the SIM card and use it in Europe or will I need to buy a phone once I get there? I have Verizon, so I can't change a SIM out of it. Will travel be difficult in France and Italy? I speak English, and just a little bit of Spanish. I'd also like to stop in Madrid if I can, is that feasible given that I'll be there from 12 to14 days or should I nix it?Thank you so much
Traveling to Europe for the first time...?
Hello I am hoping to find some encouragement here, if nothing else. In about 5 weeks, my friend and I will be traveling to Europe for a week, with our first stop being in Paris. I am 31 and this is my first time going anywhere outside of the United States other than Canada and I am very excited. But I am also very nervous for many reasons. The main is that I know very little French. I can say hello and good bye and please and thank you and I can even ask if someone speaks English but if I go into a restaurant I know I make a fool of myself trying to order. I took French in high school but that was close to 20 years ago when I was in ninth grade and even then I was terrible at it. Also, I know that some look upon the United States unfavorably and the last thing I want to do is come across as a pushy obnoxious American. I don't want to go to France and unintentionally insult someone because of my ignorance of their customs and social graces. Can anyone give me some tips, please? I know I will be encountering all sorts of different people and I want the impression I leave them with to be a positive one. Thank all so much for hte advice and help.
Planning my travel to Europe-Paris,Italy,Zurich from Mumbai. Need help with cheap-stay,travel,order of travel?
Can anyone please suggest me on the travel plan that I need to follow. And expenses where I can cut down to minimum. I also need to know how are the train travel between those countries and if trains are a cheaper mode of travel there? An approximate amount that I need to carry? We are 4 friends who have planned this little trip. I also want to know how do i travel I mean Paris, Italy, Zurich or any other country first? any other places that are worth seeing? How many days should the travel be for? I don intend on visiting every nook and corner of the country but just the major attraction. I really hope to find some help here. Thanks.
Traveling to europe HOW MUCH MONEY?
i want to go to europe for about 1 or 2 weeks how much money would i need and for what?
Should I Travel to Europe Alone?
I'm 17 right now but I'm seriously planning and saving for a trip to Italy for the Fall of 2013 I'll be 19 . My parents are offering to help pay as a graduation present...if I can find someone to go with me. If I can't, then I have to come up with it all myself. Everyone who I have dropped hints to about going seem to be completely uninterested. I'm planning to take a 24 day mediterrenean cruise and spending a week in Rome either before or after. I know I still have plenty of time to possibly find a travel partner, but my mother is very uneasy about me prospectively going by myself. I'm determined to go regardless of whether or not I go with anyone joining me because I'm not particularly concerned about all of the negative things my mom brought up about going alone ie getting kidnapped, raped, swindled out of my money, lost, etc... . Am I being naive? If not, I need some good ammo to back myself up with and prove to her that I'm not crazy for wanting to go alone despite all of the morbid possibilities she is suggesting? It's probably my own fault, I let her watch Hostel and Taken....if only I would have known...
Should I travel to Europe alone?
I've had a tough year, I won't bore you with the specifics, but I've come into money and I want to travel to France. I want to go alone, because I need to get away even if for just a little while, but mostly because I think it will be a good way to get over my fear of being alone. I don't go to restaurants, movies, or shopping alone. I hate being alone in my apartment, the list goes on and on. It's something I think I need to do, but my parents, other family members, and friends are telling me it's far too dangerous. I'm a 21 year old female, which I guess is the where their worry stems from. I don't think I'm in serious danger traveling alone. I took up to French V Honors in high school so communicating is not a worry for me. What do you think?
